How To Be Born Again

Being born again, born from above, born of water and born of the Spirit are four phrases that all speak of the same work of God on a man or woman. Unless that work of God is done on an individual, he or she cannot see or enter the Kingdom of God. Notice those phrases in this passage:

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother*s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Being born again is not something we can see with these eyes. So how does one become born again? By receiving Jesus.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Becoming a child of God and being born of the will of God are two more phrases that speak of the work of God on an individual.

Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Calling upon the name of the Lord is a prayer. Saved is another word that speaks of the work of God on an individual. When I received Jesus, the preacher did not say it, but the Spirit of God made me understand that when I received Jesus He would change me and my life. Changing me and my life was the work of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

When I received Jesus, He changed me and he began changing my life. Those changes are still happening today and will happen for the rest of my life on earth. His work began in my heart and then continued in my mind, my words and my actions. I hope and pray that He has begun His work on you. If you have not received Jesus, you need to do that. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart and begin His never-ending work on you and your life.

Colossians 2:6: As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

We walk in Jesus the same way we received Him into our hearts, by faith. We live our lives with Him in them rather than without Him. The day I received Him I was complete in Him. As I walk by faith I am more complete in Him today than I was yesterday and I will be more complete in Him tomorrow than today.

Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Since He has begun his work on us He will change us perfectly when He takes us to Heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:51: Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

1 Thessalonians 4:16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
